And we’re off

It was an early start as we left Elevate this morning and kicked off our 28 day challenge to virtually circumnavigate the world. Dan and Foxy set off on their bikes for the start of the epic journey and they’ll be joined by 34 fellow runners, rowers and cyclists, many of whom have already made good head way into their daily distance targets.

The adventure will cover nearly 42,000km, in aid of raising £10,000 to support Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) with the vital work they do, which is now even more important during the COVID-19 crisis. We’ll be passing through 28 different countries over 5 different continents, many of which MSF operate in, providing health care to some of the most vulnerable people across the Earth.

“We were all passionate about the work that MSF do, so we wanted to combine our skills in a way where we could support them. This is where the idea for journey around the world came from, we can highlight the areas that MSF operate in by passing through them and at the same time give ourselves a monumental challenge. I can’t wait to get going.”

We’re aiming to cover around 1450km per day as a group. If day one gets off to the right start, the first leg of our journey should see us hit a large majority of Europe passing through the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Slovenia and finally into Croatia.

“The aim of the challenge is to raise as much money as we can but also to bring people together in a time where that is very much needed. We’re very fortunate here to have such a strong group of like-minded people at Elevate, who all feel it’s about giving back to those most in need and to support all the healthcare staff who risk their lives to save others”
